Did I Receive A Bill From Social Security Because Of An IRA Withdrawal Or Because I Owe The IRS Money?

I owe the IRS a sum of money declared “non-collectible” in 2020.

I began collecting social security benefits in 2018 when I was 65. In 2020, after the taxes were declared non-collectible, I received a bill from social security for $3428.

Was this based on my increased income (IRA withdrawal) for that year or because I owe the IRS money?

Does Social Security Stop Doing SS Statements Once You Start Benefits?

Dear Mr. Larry,
I am 65 and plan to take my SS next year at FRA. I view my SS statement every month on the SSA website. I read another post on your website where someone said they could no longer see their SS statement after they started SS at age 70. My question is, does the SSA quit doing SS statements once you start benefits, even at FRA? If so, do you get some kind of a notice or statement online or in the mail showing your new benefit amount each year for COLA increases?
Thanks, Wilbert

What Options Do I Have?

I just started So sec retirement and got taken off SSI. I was fine with SSI. I live alone and was receiving enough to live on. Now with Soc.Sec. I'm subject to all sorts of garnishments and I must pay for medicare. i have an old child support case in arrears due to my being disabled. After chils support and medicare deductions, I'm left with $347.00 to live on. Is it legal to garnish so much the operson will be forced into homelessness? With SSI I was receiving$794.00 SSI and $87.00 SSP for a total of $881.00 which was enough for me to live on. Now I don't know what to do.

Can My Brother In Law In Mexico Apply For Benefits?

My brother in law was deported in 1997. He recently asked me if it would be possible for him to file for social social security from Mexico, now that he is age 66.

Hi. Your brother in law can certainly apply for U.S. Social Security benefits, but I don't if he'll qualify to actually be paid benefits. Social Security benefits are normally prohibited by law from being paid to someone who has been deported (https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0302635001).

Will I Be Able To Collect Both Social Security And The Spousal Annuity I Receive From The Department Of Defense?

Currently I am receiving a Spousal Benefit Program annuity from the Dept of Defense since my husband passed away in 2016. He served in the Navy for 21 years and retired in 1993. I am soon to be of full retirement age myself and have worked in the medical field many years (non-military). Will my Social Security be offset due to this annuity? Will I be able to collect both?

Will my Social Security benefit be reduced due to his pension? Also, will my Social Security benefit be reduced if I were to collect an Annuity? Wondering if he should pay the monthly cost for me to be an annuitant if my Social Security is going to be reduced ? Thank you

Aren't Survivor Benefits A Part Of Social Security?

You say you only work with social security, but isn’t survivor benefits a part of social security ?

Hi. Yes, Social Security pays a number of different survivor benefits to surviving spouses and ex-spouse's, children, and dependent parents. I don't know what you're question references, but I'm only able to answer questions if questioners give me enough information about their age, marital history, work history, etc. Estimated benefit amounts are also helpful if known.
