Shouldn't I Be Getting My Own Social Security Now?

I was born in Switzerland in 54, worked there 5 years and immigrated to the US. Got married in 81, disabled from MVA in 2009. Didn’t know about disability insurance till 2012, went to the Social Security office. They said my husband was 62 years old, could get early SS and I could get SSI. They didn’t explain anything about quarters from work earned. They paid me $330/mos, I was most of the time unable to walk and my husband cared for me 24/7. Shouldn’t I be getting my own Social Security by now?

Can I File An Amended Return For 2020 And Later File An Amended Return For 2019?

Can I file an amend return for 2020 first and after a while file an amend for 2019?

Hi. My expertise doesn't extend to income taxes, but I believe that you can file an amended tax return for any year that ended within 3 years 3 months and 15 days of when you file the amended return. You should definitely confirm that with the IRS, though.

Best, Jerry

Why Can't We Deduct SS Payroll Deductions From Our Yearly Income Taxes?

1) I am trying to understand why we can't deduct SS payroll deductions from our yearly income taxes. Or at least our half of the 15.3%. Since this is clearly a "tax" and even stated as such on the SS website! It should be deductible! Otherwise they are double taxing me! Paying income tax on my SS tax each and every year.
2) And therefore, shouldn't it also be subtracted from your annual income estimate when calculating your withholding amounts?

Will Social Security Take Back The Payment My Sister-In-Law Received Shortly After Her Death?

My sister-in-law passed away on June 30th at the age of 68. She usually received her Social Security check on the third day of the month via direct deposit because she had been on SSDI for many years. Will Social Security take back her July 3 benefit check, or is she entitled to it? If entitled to the check, what does her husband need to do with Social Security? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Can You Give Us A Breakdown By Percentages Of What Dollar Amount SS Recipients Are Getting?

Can you give us a breakdown by percentages of what dollar amounts SS recipients are actually getting? For example how many retirees are actually getting the smallest benefit and how much is that. Also what is the maximum dollar amount currently being received and what percentage receive that? This would seem to be a pretty important set of statistics but I cannot find them anywhere. Thank you.

Is It True That Social Security Can't Tell Me Whether Or Not My Ex-Spouse Is Claiming Benefits Under My Record?

Is the SSA required to tell me if anyone, including an ex spouse, is claiming benefits under my earnings record? I called them today and asked them that question. Their answer was its confidential and they cannot disclose that information. Is this the correct answer? If not, what do I need to do to get this information? I would like to find out if an ex spouse is claiming benefits under my earnings records.
