Can You Help Me Understand This Issue?
Hi Larry
Hi Larry
I need a wheelchair! I do not WAN ths but as my legs no longer co-operate with my wishes *Blankety-Blank* Blank MS!* it seems a neccecity!
Hi. I wish I could help you, but my expertise is limited to Social Security benefits. If you're drawing Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits or if you're at least age 65 then you probably have Medicare, and Medicare may be able to help out with the cost of a wheelchair if you have a doctor's prescription.

My husband is a Canadian citizen but worked in the US and began receiving Social Security Disability benefits in 2003 and Social Security benefits in 2010 when he turned 65. As his wife, I just learned that I could receive spousal benefits. I am also a Canadian citizen. I sent in an application for both a Social Security number and Spousal Benefits along with my Canadian passport, my birth certificate and my marriage certificate. According to my postal tracking number the package as received in the Baltimore Social Security office May 3, 2021.
Hi Larry,
My wife is 63 and I am 55. She has a good paying factory job, but it is more difficult as the years go by. She has worked for 35+ years but only has made decent money in the past 10 years. She really wants to retire. Should she?
Can I collect social security at FRA and unemployment benifits in the state of ohio with out any penalty?
Hi. I don't know about Ohio's unemployment regulations, but if you're drawing unemployment benefits from any state it wouldn't have any effect on your Social Security benefits. That would still be true even if you were drawing Social Security benefits prior to full retirement age (FRA).

Hi Larry,
If a group of public employees whose positions are under a long standing 218 Agreement for Social Security coverage were improperly removed from that coverage by the employer, and it is later found by Social Security that the coverage should have continued, do the employees have to pay back their share of the SS taxes retroactively or does just the employer pay? I can't find any information on this anywhere. Thanks!
Will social security offices open up again so my husband can go in person? We live in PA.
Thank you.
Hi. I'm sure that Social Security offices will reopen to the public at some point, but I don't have any inside knowledge on when that may happen. Frankly, though, I'm surprised that they haven't already reopened given the current state of affairs. My best guess would be that we'll see offices reopening at least partially within the next few months.

I am 70 still working and and applied for my SS benefits 3 months before turning 70. I plan to retire in 5 years. My question is when is the best time of the year for me to retire on my 75 March birthday, 6 months into the year or end of the year?? Also, being divorced I was eligible for spousal benefits . After the second year of receiving spousal benefits SSA informed me that I was overpaid and would have to pay them back! The benefit amount was practically cut in half!I appealed under “no fault of my own” since it was their computation that made the error!
Social security was paying me on the third week of month and just stopped paying No phone call no email nothing mailed to me so I called ss office and women told me they stopped payment but did no leave reason. She said she sent message to another dept. and that it would take 15 days to get answer. This is my only income. I retired at 62 and I’m 64 now
