Is It Normal Operating Procedure For Social Security Agents To Try To Get You To Start Your Benefits Sooner?

I am a male born in 1955 and am currently applying for my SS retirement benefit. A few weeks after making my application online I received an email from the SSA saying I needed to talk to an intake agent before my application could be further processed. When I contacted the agent the reason was that they wanted me to take my benefit 4 months earlier than I requested. The agent actually implied that I was stupid for not doing this and "was leaving money on the table". WHY would they do this and is this the SSA's normal operating procedure?

Shouldn't I Have Been Entitled To The Benefits I Was Asked To Pay Back?

Larry,
I retired under poor working conditions in (June)) 2008. Before I retired I was 68 years old drawing my husbands Social Security. Thur Jun I continue to draw SS I was in a pay status drawing on my sick leave. During this time. After I retired SS Requested that I pay that 6 months back. Should I not have been entitled to that due to my being in a pay status? I have often wonder about that. At the time, the poor working conditions had taken a mental toll on me. Please answer if you can my email. As I am hearing impaired.

What Are Your Thoughts On Social Security's Future?

Politicians and financial advisers all state to not worry about Social Security failing. That Congress will intervene and save SS. However, I am 59 and am deeply troubled that SS will not exist in “any form” for me to rely on it. I have no pension. So feel that I must save fully to ensure my retirement to age 95. Very daunting with low rates.

Was I Required To Notify The Unemployment Agency When My Disability Benefits Were Reinstated?

I was released from prison Nov 2020 and my disability from SS was suspended. I applied for and got pandemic unemployment in Dec 2020 then last week in March I got reinstated on unemployment. the rules say you have to report and SSDI when you apply for unemployment and at that time I had 0. So my question is since the rules say nothing about reporting after you filed and I did not apply for SSDI since I got unemployment it was just reinstated.
