I agree with the person in the link below, as I have asked the same question as to why social security benefits are one month behind, and the government is stealing billions of dollars over the years from this scam.

I will be 66 (my retirement age) Dec 2 2018. Does this mean I will not be able to collect until Jan. 2019?

If you want to receive your full retirement age rate you can file effective with December 2018, which would be the payment that Social Security normally issues in January 2019. The website still says my claim is under review (quality control) since 11/2. Over a week ago, my lawyer called and said they spoke with.SSA, and my claim was approved. It was approved without any appeals in approx 60 days. Today would be my scheduled pay date and nothing was deposited. Will I have to wait until 12/27,.or could it post to my account earlier?

I am getting my Husbend,s disability when he passed away i was getting it every 10th of every month then it stopped and was getting it on the first then i called them up at first they couldnt fine me stayed on the phone for a while and the person i had talked to came back to the phone to tell me i was going to get a letter telling me the change,s still waiting for that letter what should i do to make sure it does come on the 3 of every month

My husband died in June 2017. I applied for survivor benefits in July and received my first direct deposit of benefits into my checking account on 8/2 for June/July. I am supposed to receive benefits on the 4th Wednesday of every month. It is now 9/5 and I have yet to see a direct deposit for August. I haven't rec'd any notice in the mail of any changes. I am wondering if it is normal to have such a delay in deposit.

If an individual chooses/applies to take SS retirement benefits in the month they reach FRA (i.e. as soon as possible with no reduction). Will the individual receive their "initial payment" in that month, or the following month? I understand SSA pays benefits in arrears, however, on the initial payment when reaching FRA there appears to be some conflicting information on the internet as to when it is paid. Thanks Larry.

When does she ask for this change to begin?
