Why Won't Social Security Give Me Information On All Of My Options?

HI Larry, I have a dilemma I hope you can help me with. I am turning 69 and my wife will be 70 this December. She began collecting her Social Security about 15 months ago and I have been collecting spousal benefits. We needed the money and due to the fact that I was the higher earner we decided on our collecting in this way until I turn 70. We have our own business, home day care, and due to Covid have not reopened yet. We do plan on continuing to work but we are looking at all of our options.

Yes, since you've now reached your full retirement age (FRA) you can work and earn any amount without any loss of your Social Security benefits.

What's The Best Way To Recover My Mother's Money?

Mom passed away 9/16/2020. Original death certificate read 5/16/2020 due clerical error from funeral home.
Amended death certificate reads 9/16/2020. But social security debited Moms checking account $3100.00 before

Hi,

Are There Any Advantages Or Disadvantages To Contributing To A 401a Plan vs. Social Security?

I am paying into a 401A for my new employer but no social security. I am new in the US but worked a year and a half paying into SS before starting this new job. How does this affect retirement and are there any advantages/disadvantages for paying into one vs. the other?

Doesn't The PIA Need To Be Recalculated After A Child Stops Drawing Benefits?

If a student was on the SS claim until 2018 and the retired father was 68 with having filed early for SS RIB, doesn't the PIA recalculation need to be done? As the NH passed away in late 2018, and the surviving ex wife filed after he died. The ex-wife is not the mother of the child. The son had been paid his father's FRB at 50% while alive, then became ineligible after graduation. With the child and surviving divorced wife being drawn from the auxiliary benefits would have this have adjusted the NH benefit in reconsideration after NH's death?

Can My Earnings Credits Be Transferred To My Wife?

I retired with civil service retirement and have 30 quarters of social security and don't plan on adding any more quarters. Is there some way my wife can add these 30 quarters to her social security for her retirement. Thank you.

Hi,

No. Social Security earnings credits earned by one person cannot be shared with or transferred to another person.

Do You Know Why My Husband And I Received Extra Payments From Social Security?

My husband and I each received an additional (smaller amount) deposit this week from Social Security. We have no idea why. When I noticed the first deposit I assumed it was some type of error. Then I found the second. These deposits go to two different financial institutions. I tried calling the SSA but the hold time was more than I could manage that day. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Are The Estimates On Social Security's Website Updated To Include DRCs And COLAs?

Hello Larry and Jerry,
Just a general question I haven't seen an answer for elsewhere. Does a person's ssa.gov/myaccount page update on an annual basis to reflect DRC accruals along with showing an annual COLA adjustment that takes effect in January (provided there is one)?
Thanks,

Doug
