A friend of mine has been married for 15 years, receiving SSDI for more than 20 years due to a serious long term incurable illness (approx.$1,400 mo.) She also receives a mo. check (approx. $800) for a child under the age of 16.
Hi Larry my son who is 13 yrs old is receiving ss from his mother who has passed , my question is I'm now 62 and wonder if he could receive ss from both of us or do they take only the higher earner?
Your son could only receive child benefits on one record at a time, whichever is higher. And, you would have to be drawing your benefits in order for your son to potentially qualify for benefits on your record. You may want to consider using our maximization software in order to determine the best filing strategy for you and your son.
Can a great-grandchild qualify for benefits on a great-grandparent's account?
My parents would like to adopt my daughter so that she may be eligible for their SS however my dad is currently receiving the ss with disability. I would like to know if once they adopt her and she is under my fathers benefit would that mean only my parents would have to claim her as a dependent when filing their taxes. Would like more info on filing tax.
I'm sorry, but my expertise is limited to Social Security, and not tax laws.
I'm going through a divorce now in new york,, we have been married for 10 years and have 2 young kids. I went on disability 5 years into marriage and my wife is a school teacher..... court has been a nightmare , my wife's has a paid lawyer and mine is court appointed, and refuses to answer any questions I have.. I will try and ask this as least complicated as possible, I make $15,000 a year , my soon to be ex makes $70,000.
My husband and I both receive social security retirement benefits. How would benefits for a minor child be calculated as long as both of us are alive?
Hello, how can I make sure my ex is not trying to mess with the government claiming my 3 children and myself with the attempts to get disability so he doesn't have to work? We haven't lived there for years and he asked me to make believe that I was still living there in which of course I said most definitely NOT
I have SSI and I have 4 children and one on the way.....The other children except the oldest who is 21 now gets money every moth from my SSI. Now my fourth son who is a 1 and half they have repeadly denied him these benifits due to the fact theat the mother and I are not married, but i have a legal affidavit I signed form the hospital stating and agreeing I am the biological father. Whenn you sign this affidavitt you are responsible for Medical, child support and etc...But they keep telling my gf and I that we have to get a dna test.
I have custody of my Grandson his Dad passed in 2014. He was receiving his Dads Ss. March of 2017 A judge sent him to a boys academy for a 6 month training program where he also attends school. He’s coming home in a month. Will he receive back pay His checks stopped in March
That depends in part on his age. Social Security child's benefits can be paid until a child turns age 18. To be eligible after that, the child must be disabled or in full time attendance at a secondary school.
