Will My Granddaughter Get Any Benefits?

One is my granddaughter’s will be living with me her father is deceased she is 19 years will she get any benefits

Hi. If your granddaughter is age 19, then she'd probably only qualify for Social Security benefits is if she's disabled. For a child to qualify for benefits on the record of a parent or grandparent, they must be either a) under age 18, b) 18 to 19 and attending high school, or c) disabled.

Can My Adopted Grandchild Restrict His Benefits To Just My Husband's Earnings Record?

Hi
Can my adopted grandchild restrict his benefits exclusively to my husbands earnings record who is currently filing so that I may receive child care benefits? I assume he can only file on one benefit at a time and currently his survivor benefit from his mother is higher than 50% of my husbands record. However, the combined benefit up to the family maximum that we would receive would be higher than the survivor benefit alone. Is this possible?

Does My Child Get 50% Of My FRA Rate Even If I File At Age 62?

Hi,

Does my child get 50% of my FRA PIA benefit amount even though I filed for reduced benefit at 62 or does she get 50% of my reduced benefit 62 amount? My understanding is even though I filed early with reduced benefit at 62 she would still get 50% of my FRA amt (or my PIA). She will be in high school and under age 19 from my age of 62-66.

Thanks
Art

Will My Youngest Children Split The Oldest Child's Benefit When He Turns 18?

My sons father passed away in 2015. He left behind 3 children. They all receive survivors benefits or 1200*3. The oldest child is about to be 18. What happens then? Do the younger 2 then split his share?

Hi,

Not necessarily. First of all, if the 18 year old is still in high school, he could continue to receive benefits until he's 19. Or, if he's disabled, he could continue receiving benefits indefinitely.

Will The Child We Adopt In The Philippines Receive Benefits From His Father's Social Security?

Good day sir, I am a filipino citizen and my husband is receiving SSDI. We are planning to move back home to the Philippines to live there for good after i get my citizenship. We are also planning to adopt a child when we go home. My question is:
1) will the child receive dependents benefit even if she lives in the Philippines , never came to the USA and doesn’t have social security number.
2) will i receive any spousal benefit after my husband dies?? I am 42 yrs old now and have only worked for 2 yrs in the USA and we plan to go home next year

Will The Total Benefit Amount Payable To My Children Stay The Same When The Oldest Two Are No Longer Eligible?

Currently collect $528 per child, 4 children, for a monthly child benefit of $2112. When the 2 oldest, twins, age out and graduate high school, will the two youngest benefits change to $1056 each, so that the monthly benefit remains the same? Or will the total monthly benefit drop down to $1056, the $528 per child for the remaining 2 children. And if the two remaining children now get $1056 each, do I have to inform S.S. Or will they figure it out when the two oldest are dropped. I get conflicting responses from S.S. i don't understand why.
