How Much Money Can I Receive In Benefits If I Adopt My Granddaughter?

How much money can I receive in benefits if I adopt my granddaughter she is 3years old now

Hi,

I can't give you a definitive answer without much more information about your situation. Adopting a child wouldn't have any effect on your own benefit rate, but an eligible child can be paid an auxiliary benefit of up to 50% of the primary insurance amount (PIA) of a living parent who's drawing either Social Security retirement or disability (SSDI) benefits.

How Can I Establish That I Paid 50% Of My Grandchild's Support In The Year Before I Filed For Benefits?

I was born on 12/22/1942 and began receiving SS benefits on 10/22/2008 when I was 65 years 10 months. My grandchild for whom I am a legal guardian, has been living with us full time since early 2008. I realize to claim benefits for him I need to establish that I have provided at least 50% support for for a year prior to receiving my benefits. I did not claim him on my Federal taxes for 2007 or 2008. However I covered the total cost for his home and other expenses during this time period. His parents are totally disabled.

Should My Daughter Get More Now That Her Father Is Deceased?

I am a single Disabled custodial parent who receives DI with Child Aux. the single noncustodial parent child support order obligor *we never married lived apart* paid child support by state mandated wage garnishment. He unexpectedly died. Social Security deemed our child *technically entitled* to child survivors on his earnings record but pays nothing, leaving the financial burden solely based on my income alone. Leaving her deprived of the support from each parent. Losing not only him physically but all the financial means he provided and child depended upon.

Will My Granddaughter Be Entitled To Any Benefits After I Die If I Adopt Her?

I'm a single grandparent currently receiving $1584.00 monthly I had to take early retirement SSA because I was granted custody of my granddaughter when she was 11 months. She's now 3 years 9 months.
I was told by the SSA worker who I spoke to about the application process, that I can get additional $800-$900 per month if I adopt my granddaughter. If this is true, should anything happen to me, would she be entitled to any future benefits?

How Much Can Our Daughter Receive If My Husband Applies For His Benefits?

My husband wants to retire in 12/2020 he will be 65 years old and 1 month. His estimate PIA from social security is 2,226. We have a 13 year old kid. When he retires the kid will be 14 (first year in high school). His FRA is 01/22 with a est benefit of 2399. My question is will my kid be eligible to receive retirement benefits from social security from my husbands even though I am still working full-time. If so, how much is she able to receive? What is the approx family maximum.
