Child Benefits

Can The Children I'm Conservator For Collect Benefits From My Husband's Social Security Record?

I have permanent managing conservatorship on 2 children age 10 and 12. Both parents are still alive. My husband is 71 and collects social security. I am 59 and am working. Can the children collect social security from my husband benefits? Can I collect child in care benefits from my husbands social security? God forbid my husband passes away, can I collect additional social security benefits since I am caring for young children? I have searched everywhere and cannot get an answer. Thank you for your help. Debbie

Is It Correct That My Disabled Son Didn't Receive Any Benefits After My Husband Died?

My husband died in 2021 and was collecting SS. I am his wife and am 61 and have a 20 autistic spectrum son. He was also adopted so he is still getting Adoption Assistance until 21. Then will go on SSI I believe. I also have a 17 year old daughter and am getting SS for her each month as she is under 18 after my husbands death.

Will My Benefit Rate Increase Now That My Son's Benefits Have Stopped?

I have been receiving SSDI since 2003, and my son was born in 2004, but he did not start receiving his child auxiliary benefit payments until he was 12 years old for some reason? I'm not sure why that is, but I Just learned about this discrepancy today while I was looking at my SSDI payments/benefits online! So, my question for you is, can I apply for retroactive payments for his first 12 years of auxiliary payments that I did not receive? Is there anything I can legally do about this now that my son has turned 18? I Just found out that his auxiliary payments have stopped.

Will My Child Be Able To Receive Child's Benefits On Both My Record And My Spouse's Record?

Hello, my spouse and I both receive SSDI and SSI and are expecting a child. When the child is born, will she be able to receive child's benefits on both of our records? And I know a spouse can receive benefits based on a child being under 16, but how does both of us receiving benefits and both of us supporting our daughter affect this? Thank you!

Am I The Only Person Who Can File For Benefits For My Children?

I'm 65, and have two dependents 12 and 10.
My FRA is 66 and 4 months. I'm going thru a divorce and want to know if I'm the only one that can file for the Social Security Family benefit, or can my spouse, soon to be ex-spouse file for the benefit for the two dependents? I get different answers every time I ask a SS representative.

Does The Six Month Retroactivity Limit Also Apply To Dependent Child Benefits?

I have a question on dependent benefits. My daughter passed away in 2020 she had 2 daughters age 16 ant 17 at the time of her passing. They live with my ex-son in law. I told him to call SS and file for dependent benefits for my granddaughters. He never went to SS to file until Dec of 2021. My oldest granddaughter is now 18 and the other is 17. SS said they can only go back 6 months from the day the claim was filled. Does the 6 month also apply for a dependent child claim?
