Child Benefits

Can I Get Benefits For My Grandkids?

Can I get benefits for my grandkids since I'm disabled now? We have guardianship for a 13 & 11 year old for the past 6 years and had them for 8 years total. My daughter gets disability benefits for being bipolar and the kids get $121 each a month. Since they're our dependents and I just was just granted disability and my husband is 70 and wants to retire. Can they draw off of us now? The father never pays child support and is currently in prison. I hope you can help, thank you!

Can You Confirm That My Daughter And I Could Draw Benefits If I File At Age 62 Regardless Of My Wife's Earnings?

Would like to clarify about child benefits for retirees. I will be 62 shortly and will have a 10 year old daughter at that point. Your book and the SocSec website seem to indicate I can collect an extra 50% since she's under 18 and I'm retired. Can I confirm that this is the case EVEN IF my wife, who would only be about age 50 at that point, will STILL be working? Thanks …

Will My Daughter's Benefits Stop While In College?

Hi Larry!
My husband died 12 years ago leaving me to raise our two daughters. They are ages 16 and 17 now. My benefits have stopped when my youngest turned 16. My daughter will graduate high school in 3 years at age 19. My other will begin college next year. I just graduated for massage therapy. My question is, will my daughters benefits stop while in college and living with me and for my 16 yr old, will hers stop at 18 but a junior in high school? My career doesn’t make much money. I struggle to pay bills now. What do I do?

Can My Son Receive His Current Benefits And Also Receive Mental Health Disability Benefits?

My current husband is 88 years old and receives SS benefits of $2100 per month.

Three years ago we legally adopted my biological grandson, Jonny who is now 13 years old. Jonny currently receives about $1000 a month on my current husband’s social security record.

I also have an adult disabled son, Adam, who receives $1800 a month on my first husband’s record. I am the representative payee for both children.

When Our Youngest Child's Benefits End Will His Benefit Amount Be Reassigned To Our Disabled Adult Child?

Hi, My husband and I are both receiving social security benefits. We have 2 sons. One is a DAC and is 20 yo the other is a 17 yo senior in highschool. When our 17 yo graduates he will no longer qualify for benefits. When that happens will the benefits he receives be assigned to our DAC? Thank you.

Why Does My Son Only Get $8 A Month On His Dad's Social Security Disability?

I was wondering my son who is almost 4 gets $8 a month in his dads social security disability. The ssa said that was the "family maximum" My sons dad lives with his mom who owns her own home... and I may add that he is not a us citizen either....why is it that my child gets only $8 a month? Do you think the disabled adult's mother gets a portion to "care" for her son?? and why does this not go straight to my son who has the disabled parent to help with cost etc? He pays $150 in child support a month but I feel like we should be getting more help. I am a single mother..

How Will Our Situation Work?

My fiancee and I are looking at getting married now that his divorce is final. They were married for approximately 50 years. We have four children together all under 16 years of age. He will be 70 this year and i am obviously of child bearing age. we will be applying for social security once he is 70. how does this work? I am a stay at home mother and never really worked. Two of our children are still in diapers. His ex-wife has to wait 2 years before she can put in a claim against his social security. side note...
