Is My Wife's Online Statement Correct?

Hi Jerry,
Since October my wife and I are collecting SS - she a spousal benefit and me a full benefit (age 68.5). We were both born pre-1954. The benefits values are as expected but I'm curious about her online benefit statement. Nowhere do I see the term "spousal", just "You are entitled to monthly benefits as a dependent of the wage earner". Is this correct? The application process was a bit rocky and I want to avoid any issues when she eventually applies for her own age 70 benefit.

Will People In My Situation Need To Do Anything To Get The Stimulus Payment?

My question is In reference to the coronavirus $1200 stimulus check. I know that persons getting Social Security, SSDI, will automatically get the check because banking information is on file with IRS. It is my understanding that they will also use information from SSA-1099 from 2019. However, if someone just starting receiving SSDI in 2020, no SSA-1099 has yet been sent. Will these people need to do anything else? The banking information is in the system-I can not find the information on the IRS website.

Is It More Prudent To Start Collecting Benefits This Year To Be Sure I'm On The SS Rolls?

Hi Larry - I'm single (never married) + will be reaching my full retirement age of 66 this year. Although I do not need the money, I worry that if I wait till 70 to collect, I may not receive the handsome sum that was promised to me all these years if the govt is strapped for money. Is it more prudent to start collecting this year to be sure I'm on the SS rolls ? Thanks !!

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I can't answer any questions about stimulus payments. My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits, and the stimulus payments have nothing to do with Social Security regulations.
