Why Didn't My Nine Year Old Daughter Get Back Pay?

2014,never got back pay,DAUGHTER was 9yrs old at the time never received a check. Only receive 820 monthly benefits. It's very hard to pay bills and feed myself and my DAUGHTER. Pay electronically bills, water bills. Hurting very badly.

Hi. I wish I could answer your question, but there isn't enough information included for me to be able to advise you. If what you're receiving is Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits, though, then it's possible that your daughter wouldn't have been eligible for any child's benefits from your account. There is a different family maximum benefit (FMB) formula that applies when a worker receives SSDI benefits as opposed to Social Security retirement benefits, and sometimes the FMB formula on SSDI accounts limits the amount payable to family members of the disabled worker to zero.

I don't know all of the facts involved in your case, so all I can suggest is to contact Social Security. They would have access to all of your records, so they should be able to tell you if you or any of your family members are eligible for additional benefits.

Best, Jerry
