Widow's Benefits

Will I Be Given My Husband's SSDI Now That He's Passed?

My husband started getting SSDI in 2018 at the age of 58. He just passed away in June age 60. I’m age 61. I was also declared disabled in 2020. I didn’t pay much into social security because I was mostly a stay at home mom for 38 years. Will I be granted his SSDI now that he’s passed. Social Security doesn’t tell me anything until my phone appointment I’ve got coming up at the end of this month. I still have bills to pay but no income and wondering if I need to get a job.

If My Wife Starts Drawing Spousal Benefits Before Her Full Retirement Age Would She Still Get My Full Amount If I Die First?

If my wife claimed spousal benefit at 65 , her full retirement would be 66 6 months, would she still receive my full amount if I died first?

Hi. Yes, provided that your wife is at least full retirement age (FRA) or older at the time of your death.

Isn't My Mom Entitled To Both Her Own Benefit And My Deceased Dad's Full Benefit?

My Mom and Dad both received social security, over 70. Dad's was more. Mom works a little part time, but not enough to stop her SSA payments or pay taxes. Dad went to be with the Lord in 2022 and Social Security did not give her Dad's SSA payment. What they did was Jerry rig his percentage so in the end she is now ONLY receiving the equivalent of Dad's SSA payment. Her fixed-income was cut almost in half! Isn't she entitled to 100% of his payment without losing her own? Do we need a lawyer?

Is It Correct That I Must Wait Until Age 60 To Draw Benefits On My Husband's Account?

My husband passed away and I would like to draw my spousal benefit but I was told I have to wait until I turn 60. Is that correct? Keep in mind, I am 11 years younger than my deceased husband (I am age 67) and I have not gotten remarried. Also, is there any insurance advantage or benefit for widows?

Is There Anything I Can Do To Collect My Deceased Husband's Social Security?

Please help me. My husband died in my arms after taking a massive coronary 3 weeks after being married. He had no heart issues . I have been told for 18 yrs by people that I cannot collect his SS because it was not an accidental death until I just read this article. My husband was on a stage sing "I did it my way"..,He complained of very bad heartburn and he needed to get home and take his heart burn medication. We went home he took his heartburn medication..got sick..came into the bedroom fell on the bed ..took 3 last breathes and he was gone.

If I Remarried Would I Lose My Widow's Benefits?

I’m a 65 yrs old widow receiving SSDI and SS Widow benefits. If I remarried, would I lose my widow benefit check?

Hi. No. Marriages that occur after a person reaches age 60 or after they become entitled to disabled widow's benefits (DWB) do not adversely affect their eligibility for widow's benefits on the record of a previous spouse.

Will My Wife Be Eligible To Collect My Benefits If I Die Before Her?

Larry - my wife filed for SS about 15 months early. I’m roughly a year away from 70 and collecting spousal benefits while my own continues to grow. My benefit at FRA was more than double that of my wife; at 70 it will be close to triple. Under these circumstances and if I predecease her, is she eligible to collect my benefits? Thanks very much!

Sincerely - Rich
