Survivor Benefits

What Benefits Can My Wife And Kids Get If I Die?

What benefit my wife or my kids get from social security if i died

Hi. That depends on your wife and children's ages at the time of your death. Children can potentially receive survivor benefits from a parent's Social Security account if they're either under age 18, or 18 to 19 and attending high school, or at any age if they're unmarried and if they became disabled prior to age 22.

Is My Girlfriend Eligible For Survivor Benefits On Her Deceased Husband's Record?

Hi, Larry. I have a rather odd SS survivor benefits question for you. I am asking this on behalf of my girlfriend Sofi [she] who lives in Baja Mexico. She is 52 years old.

She was married legally to a USA citizen and veteran for well over 20+ years. He [Joe] was getting SS retirement benefits and veterans benefits for 20 + years during their marriage. They stayed together until he turned about 84, when he went into a nursing home in San Diego Ca. I observed them over this time, and I can say that their marriage was valid and a true relationship. No sham marriage here.

Will I Get The Amount That My Children Currently Receive When They Turn 18?

My husband passed away in Dec 2020. We have twin 11 yr olds,I myself am on SsDI
We are all recieving survivor benefits. My understanding is my benefits on the survivor side is reduced because family max. My children each recieve just over 2200.00 per month.
When they turn 18 in 7 yrs I will be 62 I am then intitled for the balance of my children's benefits?

Can I Get My Deceased Father's Social Security?

My father just passed last week and he claimed me as a dependent and I'm 59 so can I get his Social Security ?

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. No one can be paid a deceased person's actual Social Security benefits or their contributions (i.e. Social Security taxes) to the program. Nor would the fact that your father claimed you as a dependent for tax purposes make you eligible for Social Security benefits.

Would Social Security Automatically Transfer My Husband's Social Security To Me If He Dies?

I am 60, almost 61 and am disabled. I collect SSD and LTD from previous employer until 65. My husband has liver cancer and is not doing well. Will they automatically transfer his SSI to me? The reason I ask is my LTD offered a buyout if I don’t take it and SSI starts paying me my husband’s SSI it will cancel my Ltd due to the increase in funds, if I do take the buyout I will loose 15k over the next 4 yrs. With the Medical bills I cannot afford to loose any of it. Can I wait to take survivor benefits till I am 65 or will Social Security start survivor benefits automatically?
