Hi Larry, I turned 66 on July 22, 2022. What month will I be considered 66 + 4 months(full retirement). Also ,If want to start receiving benefits in January 2023. I soon should I apply?

Hi. Since you were born in July 1956, you'll reach full retirement age (FRA) effective with November 2022. If you want to claim your benefits starting January 2023, you can apply any time between now and July 31 2023.

How Can A Person On SSDI Not Be Responsible To Repay A Debt?

If a person on SSDI acquires a debt (loan companies, verbal contracts with individuals) after being approved, how can he not be responsible to pay? I was going to take him to Small Claims court for money that he borrowed before and after being approved (his Dis. check used as collateral). The attorney said we will never get paid because he is "judgement proof". This person lived with us for 8 months after receiving benefits. I have irrefutable evidence that he filed a fraudulent claim i.e. He has never stopped working.

How Can I Get Social Security To Honor My Court Order?

Hello! I had a NYS Court Order demanding my 'X' pay 65% of his benefits (or other funds he didn't want to disclose) when he turned 62 for over $430,000 owed to me for Child Support, only. It was to be paid out over a 15 year period from 2020 until 2035. We were almost 2 years unto the Agreement when he died, 12/29.21. In a month the SSA took away the $1,350 I fought for for 12 years saying, "We don't honor a NYS Court Order. We're Federal." My funds were cut & I got the difference in his higher amount -- a little over $200.

Can My Wife Draw My Social Security If I Die And Also Collect Her German Social Security?

I am 66 and am drawing my social security. I understand that should I die that my wife of 34 years can draw my social security when she retires My wife has never worked in the US but has worked in Germany for about 35 years. Can my wife, in the case of my death, draw my American social security when she retires as well as her German Rentenversicherung (German social security) or must she chose between the higher of the two?

Is There A Way To Check What My Own Benefit Will Be On The SS Website?

I saw that SS just updated their website. I'm currently receiving a spousal SS benefit. Is there a way to check what my own benefit will be on the SS website? Also, I don't see a way to go ahead and file to claim my benefit. Is there a way to do these things on the website or do I need to call them? Hopefully, I'm just missing something since I dread calling them.

Thank You,
Thomas

Is My Wife Entitled To Back Pay?

My wife and I are both 77. I started to collect SS at 66. My wife was on SS disability at around age 60 and this got converted to regular SS later on. She gets less than 50%. of my amount.
I spoke with SS today and they said she is entitled to almost $275.00 per month more to bring her to 50% of my SS and they don"t know why this wasn't done. We lost a lot of $ over the years. I am grateful for the monthly increase, but am I entitled to more for the last 11 or 12 years. Thanks

How Do We Cancel My Deceased Mother In Law's Social Security And Black Lung Benefits?

My mother in law passed away, we need to know how to cancel her social security and her black lung benefits, thank you.

Hi. I'm sorry for your loss. You can notify Social Security of your mother in law's death by calling their toll free number, 800-772-1213. My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits, though, so I don't know who you need to call regarding your mother in law's black lung benefits.

Best, Jerry
