Why Did Social Security Pay Me A Lump Sum And Lower My Benefit Rate?

I retired august 2017, recently I received a lump sum payment from social security and an adjustment downward 9n my monthly benefits. The letter that came stated that even though I requested my payments to begin in September, they said they were adjusting it back to May, even though I was not retired at that time. I am not sure what happened as I did not work after august and with that being the first year of retirement, I read from their site that income during that year was not counted against the yearly max.

Is There Anything I Should Be Alerted To Before Making An Appointment To Correct My Earnings History?

I am single, and will be 66 in Nov. I am currently unemployed and living off savings. I recently reviewed my Lifetime Earnings report and discovered my earnings in 1983 were $24,500 but reported as $0. I have my W-2 tax records to prove this. Is there anything i should be alerted to before i make an appointment to have this corrected? Will they automatically index those missing earnings from 1983? I want to make sure i get all the credit i can. I've never been married and have only my earnings to count on. Also what documentation should i request? Thank you.

Can My Mother And Mother-In-Law Claim Past Due Benefits?

My mother and mother-in-law never drew social security until the death of their spouses. I recently read that a spouse, mail or female was entitled to their own SS, even if they never worked the entitled number of segments. My understanding is that they were both entitled to claim SS, up to 50% of the spousal amount. Cam they claim past due amounts? Thanks

Can I Have A Judge Order My Ex-Husband To Start Drawing His Benefits At Age 62 So That They Can Be Garnished?

Hi Larry!

I just won a sizesble judgment against my ex-husband for his violations of the terms of the divorce.

He was determined to be voluntarily impoverished, and has refused to cooperate with child support. Court modified the Support amount monthly to $1600 + $200 toward arrears.

As he is 60, I’m planning to have to garnish quite a while of his Social Security to recoup what’s owed.

Is it possible to have the judge order that he start drawing benefits at 62 so I can garnish then instead of waiting three more years?

Am I Correct That My Survivor Benefits Will Continue Even If I Move Back To China?

Hello

i am a Green Card Holder (Permanent Resident) and Chinese Citizen. I have already collected my Social Security Survivor benefit, as a Green Card Holder, if i plan to move back China permanently, will i eligible to collect my benefit while outside the U.S ? Base on what i read ( https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10137.pdf ; Page 7-9), it seems to be that i will continue collect my benefit while outside U.S, can you read the above publication and confirm for me ?

Thanks
