If My Oldest Son Has SSI Would It Affect My Other Children's Eligibility For State Health Insurance?

Hello, I have a question. If oldest son under 18 is eligible for ssi, he has medical insurance through the state, dhs Michigan. I also have 2 other children under 18 that have insurance through the state/dhs. If my oldest son has ssi would that effect my case towards my other children's insurance through dhs? Would they be cut off? Thank you!

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I can only answer questions about Social Security benefits. I don't know what if any effect your son drawing SSI might have on your other children's health insurance.

Can A Person Reduce Their Benefit Rate Voluntarily Or By Refiling Effective With An Earlier Month?

I help Medicare beneficiaries apply for Extra Help and Other benefits. Sometimes they are just a few dollars a month over the allowable limits. Is there any way a beneficiary who filed at age 63 for instance, can ask SSA to either reduce their monthly benefit or refile at such earlier date that would reduce their monthly benefit so as to qualify for the Extra Help?

Can I Get My Social Securty Now If I Was Born In 1963?

I am born 1963 may I got my social security now.

Hi,

You must be at least age 62 in order to qualify for Social Security retirement benefits, so if that's what you're referring to the answer is no. However, if you're disabled you may be able to qualify for disability benefits prior to age 62. Also, some survivor (e.g. widow, surviving divorced spouse) and auxiliary (e.g. spouse, divorced spouse) benefits can potentially be paid prior to age 62, but I have no way of knowing whether or not you'd qualify.

Can I Get A Loan Due To Financial Hardship?

I am 58 years old. Can I get a loan due to financial hardships

Hi,

If you're referring to getting a loan from Social Security, then the answer is no. The only way that you can get any funds from Social Security is if you file for and qualify for monthly benefits.

My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits, so I don't know what other options you might have.

Can My Husband Get A Retirement Benefit?

Im turning 67 next month. Cim planning to retire. Mu husband was not working here. Can he get also a retirement benefits?

Hi,

Your husband would need to be at least age 62 and have at least 40 quarters of Social Security credits in order to qualify for Social Security retirement benefits. Or, he might be able to qualify for spousal benefits when you start drawing your benefits, but only if he's at least age 62 or has a child in his care who's eligible for benefits on your record.
