Is There Anything I Should Be Aware Of Before Filing?

Hi: I'm 70 as of Jan 22 this year and still working. I just finished reading your book, Get What's Yours. Wish I read it 5 years ago! I would have known about "suspending" benefits. I am single, no 10+ years marriages, no dependents, but a huge student loan debt! Plan to work another 5 years. Would your software benefit me and are there any points I should be aware of before I apply for SS?

Can I Collect Both A FERS Special Retirement Supplement And Social Security Widowers Benefits?

Hi, I am sorry for not clarifying my last question. I am in the Federal Retirement system(USPS) and am entitled to a special retirement supplement after I am eligible for retirement until age 62.I am also entitled to my deceased wife's social security at age 60 which I plan on taking until I am 62 and then my regular social security would replace the survivor social security. My question is can I collect both the special retirement supplement and my wife's social security or would either one be reduced? They both would end at age 62 Thank you

Can I Receive Social Security And My Civil Service Pensions?

Hi, my wife passed while working for the postal service approximately 6 years ago and I have been collecting a survivor annuity since which is about $600 per month. I also work for the postal service and am currently 59 with 29 1/2 years of service. I plan on retiring when I have 30 years which will leave me at 59 1/2. My question is am I entitled to the SRS along with my pension an still collect my survivor social security at age 60 until I reach 62 which is when my social security will take over because it is a greater amount?

Will My Teacher's Pension Keep Me From Drawing Social Security?

I taught school in Wyoming for 32 years and paid into Social Security all that time..I now have a pension from my school district and will turn 66 in Jan. can I draw my Social Security that I paid into for 30 some years...my fear is having a pension will eliminate me drawing asocial security.

Hi,

Pensions based on work that was subject to Social Security taxes have no adverse effect on Social Security benefits. Therefore, it sounds like the pension you receive won't have any effect on your Social Security benefits.

Is There Anything That My Husband And I Can Do To Increase Our Benefits?

My husband was on 100% disability benefits beginning age 60 which automatically changed to Social Security benefits when he turned 65. Because we became permanent guardians of my grandchild I took my social security benefit at age 64. I have continued to work part-time. Both my husband and I are now 66 years old. Is there anything we can do now to increase our benefits or increase benefits in case one of us dies before our grandchild is 18. She is 6 now and we depend on both our benefits to raise her.
