Hi: I'm 70 as of Jan 22 this year and still working. I just finished reading your book, Get What's Yours. Wish I read it 5 years ago! I would have known about "suspending" benefits. I am single, no 10+ years marriages, no dependents, but a huge student loan debt! Plan to work another 5 years. Would your software benefit me and are there any points I should be aware of before I apply for SS?
Hi,
If you turned age 70 in January 2017, you'll want to file your application as soon as possible. You can only claim benefits up to 6 months retroactively, and there would be no advantage to claiming benefits any later than the month you reached age 70.
Although it doesn't sound like you have any filing options that the software could help you with, you may want to use the software to determine how much, if any, that your current and future expected earnings are likely to increase your benefit rate.
Best, Jerry
