Is It Possible For Me To Claim Spousal Benefits From My Ex-Spouse While I Continue Working?

Larry, is it possible for me to claim (50% for 4 years) spousal benefits from my ex of more than 10 years when he retires & begins To collect his while I continue to work or not. And then after the 4 years, apply under my own social Security. I would be eligible for ss retirement 2 months before him but trying to maximize the best process and timing.

Should I Choose My Birth Month Or The Month After That To Get My Maximum Rate?

I am filling out the application to claim my social security retirement benefit application and having difficulty finding answer one item on it. BENEFIT STARTING DATE. I will turn 70 in June, 2021. Should I put down June, 2021 as my benefit starting date or July, 2021. I waited to claim the benefit until I am 70 years old, so I do not want to end up with the benefit for 69 year and 11 months old. Am I entitled full maximum benefit on my birthday month or the month after? I searched all sorts of publications by SSA but could not find anything clear on it. Help!

Would Collecting Benefits From My Deceased Ex-Husband's Record At Age 62 Reduce My Lifetime Benefit When I Switch To My Own Record At Age 70?

Hello. I'm currently 60, retired but working part-time.. I'm thinking of applying for my deceased ex-spouse's benefit at 62 (at which time I do not plan on working my part-time job) and then switching to my own record at 70. Will taking my deceased ex-husband's benefit at 62 reduce my lifetime benefit amount when I switch to my own record at 70? Thanks.

Am I At Risk Of Losing Benefits?

I'm 69. I started applying for Social Security retirement benefits online, but then stopped because I ran in to some questions that I need help with. I never completed the application process nor signed the form. When I called the SS office for help, they said that I started my application process 7 months ago and that it needed to be completed within 6 months. They made this sound like this wasn't a good situation for me. They scheduled me for the next available meeting with one of the SS representative, but this will be 2 months from now. I am worried.

Is What My Wife Was Told Correct?

Hi Larry. My wife is about to turn 64. Her FRA is 66.5. I recently talked to S.S. and asked if my wife could take spousal without taking her S.S. I was told she would have to take her S.S. before she would be eligible for spousal, and that she would have to wait until her FRA before she was eligible for spousal. I was told the law had changed in January 2020 and that deeming was no longer valid. I read "Get What's Yours" and it seems if the law changed as I was told, a lot is no longer valid. Can you comment?
