Can I Get Both If I Apply For A Spousal Benefit From My Husband?

Appling for husband spouse benefit can I get both

Hi. Assuming that you're referring to getting both spousal benefits and your own benefits, the answer is that you can't get both benefits in full. People born after January 1 1954 are deemed to be filing for both their own Social Security retirement benefits and for spousal benefits when they apply for either benefit. And, they can only be paid up to essentially the higher of the two benefit rates.

Does My Sister Have An Option To Stop Or Delay Her SS Up To A Year From Her Initial Claim?

My sister, age 62 in September 2020, started claiming SS in late 2020 and went back and forth on what the amount was and how much she can work to not have the benefits taxed; finally got it straight in February 2021. Does she have an option to request stopping or delaying her SS, up to a year from her initial claim? Thank you for your time. I would appreciate a reply to my email.

Is There Any Way I Can Now Collect From My Husband's Benefits?

I am 68, my husband of 45 years is 73. I started collecting SS at 63. I applied to collect from my husband's SS because his is a lot higher than mine. My esfimated benefit was $900. What I actually receive is $370. After the fact I was told I should have waited until I was 67 to collect from my husband's SS benefits. Is there a way I can now collect from my husband's benefits?

What Have I Done To Myself By Filing For My Benefits Early?

Hi Larry, just as I turned 62 I found myself without work and did not know my future prospects. In order to survive I filed for Social Security. I found good work again but collected a total of five months of benefits before I requested the benefits to stop. I did not know that I could pay that money back within one year, and I missed that window. That was over two years ago. My full retirement age is 2 years from now, and I will turn 70 in less than 6 years.

If I Stop Working Can I Collect My Late Husband's SS Even If It's Less Than My Own SS?

Larry, I'm 62, a widow, and still working. My monthly SS retirement income is now larger than my late husbands SS retirement. MY husband died young and never took his SS. 1. If I stop working, can I take my late husbands SS (even if it is less than my SS)? 2. When I turn 66.8 months (or 70), switch to my SS. 3. If I don't work and I take my husbands SS, will my SS still grow through age 70 or will it remain the same as would be when I stopped working? Thank you

Can My Wife Start Drawing Her Benefits At Age 62 And Then Switch To 50% Of My Benefit Amount When I Start Drawing?

Hi - social security question, if my wife files at 62 for her own benefit, she will receive reduced benefit of approx $600.
When I file at 67 (we are FRA at 67 both) my FRA benefit is $2,900.
Can she switch to the spousal 50% $1,450 because she will also be at her FRA, or will that be also reduced because she initially filed earlier before her FRA? Thank you. Val
