Can I Claim The Retirement Benefits My Husband Would Have Been Due Prior To His Death?

my husband filed for disability benefits but not sure if he filed for retirement benefits he was 62 and filed in august of this year. he was approved for his disability benefit quickly due to his dx being on the list of compassionate approval but passed away during his 5 months waiting period. Is he entitled to his retirement benefit for being 62 and would I as spouse get that benefit in full for the 4 months that he was waiting to hear on the disability claim being approved.

Can A Person Draw Widower's Benefits At Age 60 If He's Still Working?

1) If a person turns 60 on 1/28/18 & is currently a widow- Can he still receive widower benefits even if he is still working or does he have to be retired?
2) A woman who was married more than 10 yrs, is now divorced and wants to retire at 67. Can she receive divorced benefits even if her ex-spouse keeps working until 70 or does she have to wait until he starts collecting to receive benefits?

If We Get Married, Will My Earnings Adversely Affect My Husband's Benefits?

My guy and I are an extreme December-May relationship...but hey, love is love! He has just begun receiving social security retirement (age 65) and I have many, many more work years ahead of me (age 41 in November). We also have a son together (age 5). We would like to get married, but we are concerned about a great many things. We simply don't understand how my earnings are going to impact his SSI and how our son factors into all of this. As of right now, we are NOT filing our son as his dependent and haven't even mentioned him in regards to Social Security.

Is This The Way It Works?

My wife is turning 62 Nov. the 9th 2017. She is told that her first check will be delivered Jan. 10th 2018. That means she will be 62 for 2 months before she receives her first check. When she dies, if it be the first of any month, the last of any month, or the middle of any month, she will not get the Dec. check as she will be dead. So I am assuming that check will either go to her estate or will be gobbled up by our needful gov. Is this the way it works?? If it is, it is a damn shame that our Gov.

Can I Take Out A Hardship Loan Based On Money I've Paid To Social Security?

Hello, I am in a really hard spot right now, as I lost my job a few months ago and my son's Dad (who has been temporarily staying with us because my ex-roommate skipped out on me,) lost his job a couple weeks ago, we have no income at all and we have no way to pay rent next month. I am currently taking trade classes so I will be employed by January but I am facing eviction before then if the bills don't get paid. I am 27 and know I have $14000 in SS. Can I take out a hardship loan? if so how do I do it.

What Are The Rules For Handling Benefits Received On Behalf A Child?

I am currently helping a family friend who's husband was a military pilot that died last year in a crash. She is a young mother with 4 children in the house ranging from 4 years old to 12 years old. We have questions about keeping track of the use of the survivor benefit. I'm told that SSA wants to ensure the money is being used for the children and that the way they do that can be onerous. My question has 3 parts:

How Can I Find Out If My Disabled Child Is Drawing Benefits On My Social Security Record?

How can I find out whether and how much my disabled child who lives with my ex wife is drawing on my ss earning record?

Hi,

One way would be to ask Social Security. They are required to give you the names, but not addresses or other information, of anyone drawing benefits on your record.

Best, Jerry
