Would We Lose One Of Our Benefits If We Marry?

Should 2 women marry if one is 59 and collecting disability and the other is 70 and is collecting social security retirement? Would we lose one of the incomes?

Hi,

Getting married would have no adverse impact on either Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits or Social Security retirement benefits that are based on a person's own work history.

Will My Benefit Amount Change If I Relocate To Puerto Rico Or A Foreign Country?

I was born in Puerto Rico, leaving when I was six. My entire work and tax paying history has been in the United States. How will my benefit be calculated and awarded if I continue to reside in the United States once I have claimed my benefit for Retirement? Does the benefit amount change if I relocate to Puerto Rico, or any other country during Retirement?

Can Social Security Reduce My Son's Benefits Because Of Support He Gets From The State Of California?

My disabled adult son lives with his father in CA. His father has not reached full retirement age yet but retired early to care for our son. He is collecting SS and receives a small amount of money from California In Home Support Services to aid in his care/shelter. It has enabled him to remain in his home rather than have to live in a group home. It's the best solution, he is very severely disabled with autism.

Will My Romanian Social Security Pension Be Tax Exempt In The U.S.?

I'm Romanian but will get my green card soon. When I start receiving my Romanina social security pension, would it be tax exempt in the US? it seems from the US-Romania tax treaty that that's the case but was unsure since it seems my social security pension is taxed in Romania...

Hi,

I'm sorry, but my expertise is limited to U.S. Social Security benefits, so I'm not able to answer tax questions.

Will Social Security Increase My Father's Benefit Due To My Mother's Death?

Hi Larry.. My mother, who was a homemaker never contributed to social security , however she collected 600 or so a month at the time of her passing three weeks ago roughly. My father receives roughly 1100. Combined they were able to live ok, however, she passed on August 29th and the amount that was deposited on her behalf was withdrawn once the death certificate was issued.
