How Can I Get Parts A & B Of Medicare To Start On July 1st?

I am 69 and will retire on June 30. Until now my medical insurance has been through my employer, and will need go on Medicare beginning July 1. I terminated my health savings account (HSA) last December to avoid penalties when I join Medicare. Today (April 4) I went online and signed up for Medicare, indicating a start date of July 1.

Why Are Medicare Taxes Being Withheld From My Wages If I'm Paying Quarterly Medicare Premiums?

I am 65 . Still work and am being billed quarterly for my Medicare, Why am I still paying a Medicare tax from my employer paychecks

Hi. The Medicare payroll taxes deducted from earnings fund only Part A of Medicare, not any other parts of Medicare. That's why insured individuals pay no monthly premium for part A coverage, but do have to pay premiums for the other optional parts of Medicare.

Best, Jerry

Is It Permissable To Pay For One Or Two Months Of Part B Premiums In Response To A Quarterly Billing?

Hi Larry,

I see that many people have this issue of duplicate Medicare Part B premium payments, because they get billed for 3 months, even though they're starting Social Security within that 3 month period. I likely will have the same thing happen next month too.

Like others on this ask-larry forum, I too have searched & searched online & find virtually nothing addressing this, other than this blog - CONGRATS to you.

How Do I Deal With Double Paying My Part B Medicare Premium?

I started Part B on January 1st and because I hadn’t started receiving SS yet, I was billed for 3 months Part B premium. My SS benefits began in February when I turned 70, and I got the first payment today (March 16). Noticed that Medicare premium was withheld, so haven’t I doubled-paid the premium for at least the month of March? If so, how do I deal with it?
