Can My Husband And I File Our Income Taxes Separately And Ask For Lower Medicare Premium Rates Based Only On His Income?

So my husband and I filed jointly for many years. Now we got the Irma etc based on both incomes. Can we file separately this year they reapply using only his income ?

Hi. You and your husband can file separate tax returns, but whether or not that would reduce your Medicare premium rates depends in part on your respective income levels. I would suggest reviewing the information on Social Security's form SSA-44 (https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-44-ext.pdf).

Can I Use An Estimate Of My Expected Income On Form SSA-44?

A Medicare question. (If you don't do Medicare, can you suggest someone to whom I can contact?)

I just received a letter from the IRS indicating our ERMAA for next year (2023) based on our tax return for 2021. This represents an increase into the next category (ERMAA will be $165 per month for each of us for Part A, plus $31 for part D. Ouch!)

Do I Get To Keep The Second Part B?

I retired from two organizations with medical benefits, the Medicare Part B portion ($140) is credit back on my retirement check. Since Medicare Part B can only be taken out once do I get to keep the second Part B since I have dual coverage?

Hi. Sorry, but I'm not sure that I understand your question. Assuming that you're no longer working and you're enrolled in Medicare, then Medicare would be your primary health insurance coverage. Any other health insurance coverage that you have would be supplemental to Medicare.

Does Medicare Owe Me An Overpayment Since I'm Paying Medicare Taxes From My Earnings And I'm Already Paying Medicare Out Of My Benefits?

I've retired at 65
I'm 70 now and continue to work full time.do I still have to pay into Social Security if I continue to work from my salary when I'm already paying Medicare out of my Social Security .
Does Medicare owe me an overpayment from accepting Medicare from my employers since I've retired and they are receiving payments from my pay from my salary?

What Can I Do To Get My Medicare Start Date Corrected?

Soc Sec has not CORRECTED my Medicare part B start date. I’m 73. I retired May 13 this year. I had already part A Medicare. I applied 2 months before for part B ( I have copies). I received a card with part b starting date: April 1, 2022. I applied for part C with HUMANA and I received my card and everything was fine. Suddenly Soc Sec sends me a card that shows my part B start date of June 1. HUMANA canceled me!!! They told me that I lost my entitlement. I called many times to be places I. Hold forever and to be told to wait a few days.

Can I Pay My Medicare Premium With A One Month Payment?

Part b Medicare premium effective 10-1-22. I am not yet getting social security. The first bill I just received is for 4 Months, October through January 2023. They want the full payment by Oct 25th. I am unable to pay in advance. They offer enrollment in easy pay however the first payment is going to be 3 months. Which I also can't do. Can I make 1 month payment now? Will that cause me to then be considered late? Is there anything I can do to change this to monthly? Can Social security assistant me with this.

What Can I Submit As Proof Of Income And When?

I retired Dec. 2021 and didn't submit a 44 form so we've paid a huge sum for medicare this year 2022. I see that we can get a refund and I'd like to do that since I have been retired all of 2022. But, what can I submit as proof of income and when? Do they only accept my 2022 income tax forms which I get prepared and filed on & after December 2022? also, we do take out sums from post-tax ira/401k monies so can we submit proof of these withdrawals by showing them a log or some form of proof from our IRA/401k so I can submit it this year to Social security office?

Is There Anything I Can Do To Get Medicare Overpayment Back?

I got a bill for 6 months of Medicare and paid it, then my SS benefits began and they are deducting Medicare from my benefits, That was 8 months ago and I have not received a refund even though I have called twice to ask for the refund and my account shows a balance of the full amount of the payment. Is there anything I can do to get my $850.50 back? Thank you.
