Should I Be Getting Medicare or Medicaid?

I am 64 yrs old.. getting parcial retiremrent.while i work..pt. was on medicade wont put it back on me.. should i be getting medicare or still medicade.i hsve no health insurence as of now...what should i do...

Hi,

I don't have any expertise in the Medicaid program, so I can't tell you whether or not you'd qualify for that. With regard to Medicare, you wouldn't qualify for that until age 65 unless you've been receiving Social Security disability benefits for at least 2 years.

Best, Jerry

Where Can I Find A MAGI Calculator?

Certain enrollees in Medicare part B pay higher insurance premiums based on their modified adjusted gross income, or MAGI. I looked, an cannot find a simple calculator which calculates MAGI, there are none on either the IRS or SSA websites. Where may I find, or do you have, a MAGI calculator which will calculate MAGI, for the purposes of Part B, Medicare insurance premiums?

Should I Pay My Medicare Premiums If They Are Scheduled To Be Withheld From My Benefits?

I now pay for Part B directly. Just received bill for May 1 - July 31 that's due April 25. Will begin receiving social security benefits in May and understand that Part B premium will be deducted automatically. Should I pay the Part B bill, all or part?

Hi,

I think the safest route would be to pay the entire amount, with the understanding that any duplicate premium payments will be refunded to you after your premiums start being deducted from your Social Security benefits. The duplicate premiums are generally refunded automatically within 60 days.

Who Do I Contact About Getting A Refund Of Duplicate Medicare Premiums?

In December 2017, I paid my Medicare premium 3 months in advance for Jan, Feb, March 2018. I signed up for Social Security in December 2017 so I could start receiving benefits in January 2018. I received my first social security check in February and they deducted my Medicare premium from the check. Who do I contact about getting a refund for the Medicare premiums that I paid in advance for Feb and March since Social Security is taking it out of my checks?

Can My Estimated 2018 Income Be Used To Determine My Part B Premium Rate?

If I retire in 2018 and my Modified Adjusted Gross Income decreases significantly from 2017, can I request that my Part B Income Adjusted Premium be based upon my 2018 estimated income provided I can substantiate that my estimated income will indeed be significantly lower? I understand that I would have to provide Medicare with my 2018 tax return when filed to substantiate that my estimate was accurate. Thank you.

Am I Looking At No Money For At Least 15 Prescriptions?

I have just received notice that my 100% mental disability is to be converted over standard Retirement. The monthly checks are similar, but I have been on ( my estimate) 11 or 12 hundred dollars in part d drug benefit, with "EXTRA HELP".. I am on many medications for multiple conditions including medications For my mental disability. My CO-PAY per prescription is no more than $7.
What will happen to this arrangement, I'm afraid that my drug bill would average 4 to $600 a year! My only financial resource is th Disability/ now standard retirement check.

Can I Do Anything About An SSA Employee That Made A Damaging Mistake?

Can I do anything about a SSA employee making a damaging mistake by cancelling my Medicare B and 3 months later it is still not reinstated? I am handicapped with a spinal cord injury, I have 2 types of blood cancer, chronic myositis and a neck injury. I have 4 Dr.'s I need to see and can not.
Thank you for your time.

Is A Disabled Person Who Is Forced To Take Early Retirement Automatically Eligible For Medicare?

When a disabled person on SSI & Medicaid is forced into early retirement (age 62) is that person automatically eligible for Medicare or does the person have to wait until age 65? If eligible, does that person need to apply themselves or once receiving Social Security does Medicare automatically begin since Medicaid was terminated? Does the person need to reapply for Medicaid? Can the person possibly receive both as primary & secondary coverage?

What's The Earliest Age That I Can Switch To Retirement Benefits Without Decreasing My Benefit Rate?

I am getting social security disability benefits and I get Medicare. I pay a premium price for Medicare due to a penalty that I'm under. I was told that when my disability benefits turn over to retirement benefits, the Medicare penalty will stop. What is the earliest age that I can retire without decreasing my disability benefits so that I can stop paying that penalty?
