As I understand it, even though I am collecting ssdi, at age 62 I am entitled to a percentage of my ex's retirement benefit? Will this benefit increase when my own benefit switches over to regular retirement from ssdi?

I’m 57 im on permanent SSDI for 2 yrs now at maximum amount based on my earnings. I was married 26 yrs divorced 11 yrs not remarried - my x turns 65 tomorrow.
1 how and when can I find out when he starts collecting SS ?
2 can I collect spousal SS while on SSDI? If so at what age? Can I find out if I have higher earnings or if does? He has been a CEO for the last 10 yrs since we divorced and guessing he has had higher earnings than me these last 10 yrs.
if I’m entitled does it reduce my SSDI at all or is it on top?
When would I apply?

I was married for 23 years. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis during my marriage, but never applied for disability because my husband made a very good income. I have been divorced for 12 years, and have been living in poverty because I cannot work full time. After a three year battle, I was granted SSD last year, but it is only $182 a month because I didn’t work for 25 years of marriage. Shouldn’t I be able to get spousal benefits because I am disabled and it was his income I depended on all those years? I will be 59 next month. He is 56 today. I have never remarried.

I was married 30+ years, I do not have my own ss benefits to collect. If I collect divorced spousal ss at age 62 and my ex dies, if I wait until my fra to collect divorced widow benefits would I receive 100% of my ex's fra ss? Also, if he collects early, will my ss be based on his fra since we are divorced?

I was married for over 25 years when I became disabled. I was under age 50 at that time. I was divorced, remained single for a number years, and remarried 6 years ago. My ex-husband is approaching retirement age. I have read that that if I became disabled before age 50 I could draw on my ex's social security if it was higher than mine, even if I remarried. Do you have a definitive answer? I appreciate any help you can give me.

If you do qualify for divorced spousal benefits when your wife files for her benefits, you wouldn't start getting them automatically. You would need to file a claim in order to potentially become entitled to divorced spousal benefits. And, you will only qualify for divorced spousal benefits if 50% of your ex-wife's full retirement age rate (PIA) is higher than your own PIA.

Dear Larry, My current husband and I have been married for 4 years and are both eligible for ex-spousal SS benefits as of March 2018. My question is under the rule, RS 00202.045 Remarriage of a Divorced Spouse - Policy is it necessary for us to divorce each other in order to qualify for the ex-spousal benefit or will the Social Security Administration make an exception since we are both entitled to that benefit? If it is necessary we will divorce now and remarry at a later time ashe difference in benefit amounts is substantial. Thanks for all of your help. Linda

I collect 202 a month from my disabled exspouse . we were married 20 years.. . we want to remarry. how will this affect our soc security ?

I am getting ready to turn 60 I know I can't draw till at least 62. I was married twice to the same guy. Those marriages lasted Less Than 3 years each (approximately 6 yrs total.) I remarried, that marriage lasted less than 4 years. I've never remarried. When I turn 62 can I draw on either one of my husband's Social Security? right now they are both alive but I think they are disabled I'm not sure how would I find that out. Please help. If I remarry, could that lower the amount of my social security retirement check, as compared to if I remained single? Does my age at the time of remarrying, also affect my benefit amount? I am 59, my ex spouse worked and earned less than I did during the course of our 20 year marriage, and my current boyfriend has been steadily employed his entire adult life and makes about twice as much as I do. Lastly, would my ex spouse benefit in any way from my remarrying?
