How Would Remarriage Affect Our Benefits?

I collect 202 a month from my disabled exspouse . we were married 20 years.. . we want to remarry. how will this affect our soc security ?

Hi,

Assuming that you mean that you are drawing a divorced spousal benefit from Social Security, remarriage to the same person will likely not affect either of your benefit rates. However, unless you remarry on the first day of a month, you will likely lose a month of your divorced spousal/spousal benefits. For an explanation of this policy, refer to the following reference from Social Security's operations manual: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0300202010#c2.

Best, Jerry
