Disabled Widow(er) Benefits

Can I File For My Deceased Husband's Social Security Benefits?

I will be turning 60 in October of this year. At the age of 58 , I became disabled & am receiving a very small portion of my deceased husband’s benefits along with my own disability benefits. As I am sure he made more money than me, can I file for his social security benefits? And, if so, when should I apply & would I receive more than I am receiving now on his SS benefits? How can I receive a statement of benefits on my deceased spouse?

If I Start Drawing My Husband's Benefits Will They Take Away Mine?

My husband and I were married 27 years. He and I both were disabled young, and both received SSD. I in 2003-4 and him around 2000. He died in 2016 and I was not 50 yet. I won't be 50 for over a year. When I get his benefit, do they automatically take away mine? He made more than I did. If I got his when I turned 50 and they take away mine, can I work and still collect his?

Will I Qualify For Benefits On My First Husband's Record As Soon As My Divorce Is Final?

Hi Larry, my current husband and I have just a few week and our divorce will be final. I'm currently on SSD due to Crohn's Diease, I've been collecting disability since 2001. I work from age 15-37 yrs of age. I'm only receiving $776 a month which once my divorce is final, there is no way I can survive on that amount monthly. I was married for 10 yrs to my first husband who died in an auto accident. I'm soon to be 55 yrs old and can I collect my deceased husband's disability benefits after my current marriage divorce is final?

Is What I'm Receiving Correct?

I am 56 and disabled since 2009. I receive 550.40 a month. 443.00 after they deduct for insurance. My husband passed this year. He was 79 and drew 773.60 per month. I now only receive 180.30 per month on my husband. Is this correct? We always thought it would be more. $623.30 a month is not enough to live on. We expected at least enough to pay utilities. Please tell me this is wrong.. what can I do to make sure I'm getting all I'm entitled to. Thank you

Can I Get A Higher Benefit Amount When I Turn 66?

I am on SSDI temporarily since 2011, I collect $1,420 from my deceased husbands recorded payment to SSA. I think the penalty is 25%.. I am 63 years old this year, born in 1954. I also collect widows pension of $720 monthly from VA. I have not worked since my disability ruling. ( 3 ) Questions: can I qualify for more SSDI before I turn 66? When I turn 66, in October, 2017, do I get the 25% penalty eliminated? Will full retirement affect my widows pension from the VA?

Are Disabled Widow's Benefits The Same Thing As Regular Widow's Benefits?

I have ssdi as a divorced disabled widow. i am fifty nine years old. i was married for nearly twenty five years.
I had to use my husband's work quarters to get ssdi benefits because i first became disabled at the age of 32 in 1989.
Am I entitled to survivor's widow benefits when i turn 62, in addition to the ssdi I currently receive? is disabled widow benefits the same thing as widow survivor benefits?

Are Benefits For Disabled Widows Unreduced?

My mother is disabled, and became disabled shortly after her husbands death. She just turned 60. Currently she is receiving SSI through disability. My understanding is that she can apply for the survivor benefit based on her husbands social security. My question is that does she get his full benefit because she is disabled? Her current benefit is around $870, but her husbands full benefit would only be around $1230.

Can I Get Widow's Benefits Now?

Hi,

My husband died 15 years ago (2002), while I was able bodied and working. I became disabled in 2014 and now live in an assisted living facility. I was told since I was not disabled when my husband passed that I could not received any of his benefits. I am now on SSI, but the amount is so small I cannot afford to live. I was also told that I could begin to received some of his benefits when I turn 60. I will be 59 this year. Is it possible to apply for his benefits now?

Please advise,
