Disabled Widow(er) Benefits

Is My Friend Entitled To More Money Now That She's Reached Her Full Retirement Age?

Ok Larry a friend of mine received ssdi from her benefits for 30 yrs. She now reached her full retiremen is she entitled tomore money plus widows which she has been collecting for 30 yrs

Hi. The rate of your friend's Social Security disability (SSDI) benefit won't change when she reaches full retirement age (FRA). SSDI benefits automatically convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits when a person reaches FRA, but their monthly benefit rate stays the same.

Can't I Get My Deceased Husband's Benefits If I'm Over 50 And Disabled?

I am 58 years old. I have been on disability for about a year. Social Security backdated my claim to when I applied which makes it not quite three years of payments altogether. My husband was also on Social Security disability for about four years. He has passed away and I have applied for his benefits and I was denied except for $255 death benefit. I was told that was all I qualified for. It is my understanding that that if I was on disability and at least the age of fifty that I would get his benefits. Which one is correct?

Why Can't Disabled Widow's Get More?

I'm receiving disability payments for myself for about 10 years or more. My husband passed away last June of 2020. He was working up until he died and was the main wage earner. They said I could only get the difference between my disability and what he would have gotten. That came to additional $10 a month. Why isn’t there more help for disabled widows and why can’t they get more?

Could You Please Explain Survivor Benefits When The Surviving Spouse Is Disabled?

Hi Larry. Could you please explain widow survival benefits when the surviving spouse is disabled before age 60 and has not ever received any sort of disability/nor ever applied on their own record (not eligible) or SSI? I don’t understand what it means that you are eligible at age 50 if the disability occurred within 7 years of spouses death. How is the date of disability decided? My husband and I have been married almost 30 years, and I’m only 50 while he is 65 and retiring next year. I became disabled a year ago.

Why Am I Not Receiving My Husband's Full Rate?

My spouse was awarded SSDI after he was deceased. He had already retired, but then applied for SSDI. About 1 year later I became disabled and now receive SSDI based off of my record. I applied for disabled widow benefit, yet do not receive an amount that would equal the higher of the two (mine is 1661 and he made 2570. I receive 600 from his). Why would this be?
Also, will benefits be forever reduced?

Why Is My Benefit Amount Reduced?

60 year old disabled widow. Deceased spouse was fully insured. SSA has approved my disability. (Claim has been going on for 2.5 years). They sent me my late spouses reduced (28.5 from my late spouses retirement monthly benefit - immediately following his death. I assumed I was waiting to hear about disability. 1.5 years later, I found my claim in my local office where the supervisor told me I was approved for disability but processing doesn’t know how to code it ???
