Do You Lose Your Ability To Receive Medicaid If You Have A Judgment Against You?

Do lose your ability to receive Medicaid if you have a judgment against you?

My sister fraudulently took out a loan in my 78 year old mother's name. The loan payment for it is $745 a month and she doesn't collect enough social security to cover this and I cannot keep paying it myself. Mom doesn't want to turn in my sister to the police. If she files bankruptcy, is she denied Medicaid? Thank you for your time

Isn't Medicaid Administered By Social Security?

Hi, Jerry/Larry. Regarding the prior question someone just posted of "When a person dies and they're drawing SSI does Social Security always take it all back" -- What if you also got Medicaid along with SSI. Isn't Medicaid administered by SocSec, and aren't there rules about Medicaid/SSI recovering money, once someone dies, for certain medical expenses if the deceased's estate has funds to pay for healthcare previously provided by Medicaid? I know this is complex, but wondered if SSA/Medicaid can seek repayment for services rendered/benefits paid? Thanks for the help!

Will My Daughter's Survivor Benefits Affect Her SNAP Or Medicaid?

Hi Larry,

My daughters father was violently murdered 2 weeks ago. She is on Medicaid and we receive SNAP in Texas. I went to file for Survivor Benefits at the local social security office and was suprised at the amount she will start to receive monthly. I was wondering if this new monthly income will affect her medicaid or SNAP? Thank you for your time.

How Much Can I Earn Without Losing My Medicaid Coverage?

I'm 70 years old and in debt also with no asset or real estate. I'm receiving Medicare and Mass Health standard. I have a precondition health issue and this is the reason I didn't work until I turn 70. I want to work from home to make a little extra to supplement my income. I afraid to lose my MassHealth (Medicaid). How can I find out for sure with raising a red flag?

Hi,

I'm sorry, but Social Security is my only area of expertise, so I can't answer your question. You should probably check with the agency that administers your MassHealth benefits.

Will My Social Security Payment Affect My Medicaid Status?

I am 62 and in 2013whike I was self employed I had a brain hemorrage , which left me with some permanent deficits. I was denied disability benefits because I had been self employed since 2003 and did not put myself on the payroll because it seemed that I could not afford to pay myself. So, for the last 10 yearsI had not paid into S/S I am now getting Medicaid and I was going to apply for my S/Sretirement but I'm afraid that the income from a retirement check will negate my Medicaid eligibility. I have researched this and have not found an answer.
