Disability Benefits

Do I Need To Worry About My Benefits Changing When I Turn 66?

I have been on SSDI and SSI for years recently due to my age of 66 it says it has been converted to retirement benefits I'm worried will I lose any part of my income I have two cards one for SSI and the other for SSDI do I need to worry ty

Hi. No. Conversion of your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits to regular Social Security retirement benefits when you reach full retirement age (FRA) won't change your benefit rate, nor will it cause any change to your Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments.

Best, Jerry

Do Royalties Affect Social Security Disability Benefits?

Do royalties Affect Social Security Disability Benefits?

Hi. Possibly, but probably not if the work that was done to produce the royalties was performed prior to your Social Security disability onset date. For example, say that a person wrote and sold a book to a publisher prior to becoming disabled. Assuming that the author isn't actively involved in promoting or selling the book at any point after his or her disability began, royalties received after that time could be excluded from counting as earnings Social Security disability benefit purposes.

Is It True That I Can Invest In Cryptocurrency Without Risking My SSDI?

I'm 32 years old and have been on ssdi since my mid 20s. I've never worked a day in my life. I'm not able to work because I have epilepsy and $800 a month is very hard to live on. I've had epilepsy since I was in 7th grade. I want to make more money, but I don't want to jeopardize losing my SSDI. There's no way I could afford the hospital bills and my medications. Is it true that I can invest or buy cryptocurrency without risking my ssdi? Thanks alot for your time and any input is much appreciated.

Where In POMS Does It State That A Statutorily Blind Person Can Earn More Than Someone Who Is Disabled From A Different Impairment?

(1) If you are statutorily blind and receive SSDI, where in SSA's POMS does it state that once approved a statutorily blind person can earn more than someone who is otherwise determined to be disabled and entitled to SSDI? I cannot find anywhere that is states this. (2) SGA seems to be only that earned prior to eligibility. At this time an income limie on SSDI recipients (seems to be) is $940 while receiving SSDI and there seems to be no provision for a statutorily blind person to be allowed to earn more. Please clarify if I am wrong.

If You're Receiving SSID Is It Mandatory That You Switch To Retirement When You Reach Age 62?

When receiving ssid and you reach the age of 62 is it mandatory that you switch to retirement

Hi. If by SSID you're referring to Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits, then the answer to your question is no. No action is required when you reach age 62 if you're drawing SSDI benefits. SSDI benefits automatically convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits at the same rate when you the recipient reaches their full retirement age (FRA).
