Will My Unemployment Payments Affect My SSDI?

Hi Larry,
Currently receiving SSDI for many years and got a part time a yr ago, I’m making under The allowed to make $1,260 and list P/T Job due to Coronavirus.

But my question is with the Pandemic I filed for UNEMPLOYMENT and was approved for very little, I’m told about a$600/week Federal Income added to EDD, if that Unemployment Income is over the $1,260 what happens to my SSDI with this extra $600 being NOT EARNED? Will it effect my SSDI since not earned actual income? Basically can you get Unemployment & SSDI at the same time and is there a Cap with Unemployment?

Thank you!

Hi,

Receipt of unemployment insurance will have no effect on your Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits, regardless of how much the unemployment payments amount to. There's no limit on how much unearned income you can receive and still draw SSDI.

Best, Jerry
