Will My Husband Need To Do Anything To Restart His Benefits At Age 70?

My husband suspended his ss benefits at age 66 and will turn 70 on Aug 9. When he turns 70 will his benefits automatically start or does he need to file to un-suspend his benefits? If he needs to do something is it better to do this online, in person or over the phone?

Hi,

Your husband's benefits should be reinstated automatically with no action needed on his part. His payment for August should be received in September. If you've changed bank accounts since he filed his application, you'll want to be sure that Social Security has the correct direct deposit information (https://www.ssa.gov/deposit/).

Best, Jerry
