Will My Disability Benefit Amount Go Up In September?

I am on dissability and I want to know if it will go up in Sept 2020 when I will be 61 9months? Thank you

Hi,

Your disability benefit rate won't increase simply because you reach age 61 & 9 months or at any other age. Social Security disability (SSDI) benefits are calculated at 100% of a person's primary insurance amount (PIA), which is also the same rate that a person is paid if they start drawing their Social Security retirement benefits at full retirement age (FRA).

Assuming that what you're collecting is SSDI, your SSDI benefits will convert to regular Social Security retirement benefits when you reach FRA. Your benefit rate almost certainly won't change as a result of that conversion, though.

Best, Jerry
