1. I have set up a program at BofA to pay both my Medicare B and D by the due date of the 25-th day of the preceding month.
2. My social security begins for the month of July, and is deposited in August on the 2nd, third, or 4th Wednesday of August
3. Assuming no delay in switchover.
(a) Will the net SS payment for July in August be net of the Medicare bill for August due by July 25-th (THEN IT WILL BE LATE) or that for September due by August 25-th. What if the 4-th Wednesday is after the 25-th ?
(b) Will the automatic netting from SS also cover Part D premium, or will that require a separate election

Hi RCK. The Medicare premium that will be withheld from your Social Security check that's paid in August (for July) covers your Part B premium for August. So, if you already have Part B coverage you'll need to pay your Medicare premiums out of pocket through July. You can elect to have your Part D premiums withheld from your Social Security benefit payments, but you must sign up for that with your Part D insurance company.

You will only be paid on the 4th Wednesday of each month if your birthday falls on the 21st through 31st day of a month. If it does, you may want to ask your Part D insurance company if there will be any problem if your Social Security benefit payment is paid after the 25th of a month.
