When Will I Get My Benefit Payments?

If I have been getting paid on the 3rd of the month. In that case my birthday is the 31st of January. If I don't receive a check on the 3rd that means all of my finances will be discombobulated due to Auto pays and first of the month utility dates. So I would be without income .So can I expect my check deposit on the 3rd of Feb and the new dispensation on Feb 23 and on the 4 Wed in the following months. What I've read is unclear & stressing me out. Please help me understand the reality

Hi. All I can tell you is that the day of the month on which your benefits are paid is based on Social Security law (https://www.ssa.gov/kc/rp_paybenefits.htm). That law was amended by Congress in 1997, and it hasn't changed since that time. Starting with May 1997, the only people who should be receiving their benefits on the 3rd day of the month are:
a) People who first filed for benefits before May 1997; or,
b) People who are receiving both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security payments; or,
c) People who live in a foreign country; or,
d) People whose Medicare premiums are paid by the state where they live.

People who don't meet the above requirements are paid either on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday of the month depending on the birthday of the worker on whose account they are paid benefits. If you are collecting benefits based on your own work record, then unless you meet one of the exceptions listed above you should be receiving your payments of the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Best, Jerry
