When is my widows pension check coming into my bank? Also, LaRRY HOW MUCH A MONTH BEFORE TAXES CAN I WORK WITHOUT GETTING MY CHECK TAKEN AWAY?

Hi,

I need more information to be able to properly answer your questions. What I can tell you is that Social Security basically pays benefits a month behind. So, if you are eligible for a benefit payment for the month of June, your payment would be scheduled for sometime in July.

Social Security formerly paid all regularly scheduled benefit payments on the 3rd of the month (e.g. benefits for June were paid on July 3rd), but now most people are paid either on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday of the month. Which Wednesday your payment would be scheduled for depends on the date of birth of the worker on whose record you're being paid. If the worker was born in the first 10 days of a month, your benefits would normally be paid on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. If the worker was born in the second 10 days of a month (i.e. 11th through the 20th), your benefits would normally be paid on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. And, if the worker was born after the 20th of a month, your benefits would normally be paid on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

As for how much you can earn, if you won't reach full retirement age (FRA) until after the end of 2019 then you can be paid all of your benefits if you earn less than $17,040 this year. Or, if this is your initial year of entitlement to benefits, you could alternately be paid for any months in 2019 in which you earn no more than $1470 regardless of how much you earn in the calendar year (https://www.ssa.gov/planners/retire/rule.html).

Best, Jerry
