What Was The Policy For Withdrawing A Social Security Application In 2002?

Currently when a client changes his mind about social security benefits he can complete form SSA-521 and pay back what he has received as long as it is done within the first year. What was the policy in 2002?

Hi. Prior to December 8 2010, there was no set time limit for withdrawing an application. And, the current one-year time limit for requesting withdrawal only applies to applications for Social Security retirement benefits. There still is no set time limit for withdrawing applications for other types of Social Security benefits (e.g. disability, survivor).

Best, Jerry
