What Should I Do?

My survivor benefits were cut after 4-5 yrs, I care for our daughter who has a Disability and is 17yrs old and still attending High School. Also she have other 3 kids all over 18 that doesn’t attend high school and never Graduated what should I do

Hi. Child in care survivor benefits can potentially be paid to the deceased worker's widow or surviving ex-spouse if they have a child of the worker in their care who is either under age 16 or disabled. If the 17 year old you're caring for is eligible for child benefits then you can ask Social Security to make a medical determination to see if the child is disabled based on Social Security's definition (https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0300208070). If he or she is approved, then your survivor benefits could potentially be reinstated if the child has a mental impairment or a physical impairment that requires you to perform personal services for the child.

You don't mention your age or details of your marriage to the deceased, so I don't know whether or not you could qualify for any other type of survivor benefits (e.g. widow's or surviving divorced spousal benefits).

Best, Jerry
