What Are Your Thoughts?

I know I need money for retirement , I don't have much in my 401 k , been working a full time job for fed govt for last 9 yrs , and worked in military for 14 yrs . just tired of working for someone else. im 54, want to retire , and start working part time either for myself or another career change. what are your thoughts , thank you.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but my expertise is limited to Social Security and your question doesn't include enough information about your circumstances to enable me to offer you any advice in that regard. I can only tell you that in general the less you earn and contribute to Social Security in your working years, the lower your Social Security retirement benefit is likely to be (https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10070.pdf).

Best, Jerry
