Is There A Minimum Amount Of Benefits?

Is there a minimum amount of SSA Retirement Benefits? Is this amount more or less than the SSI payment of $783. for and individual and $1,175.00 for a couple for 2020? Is there a minimum benefit for a disabled worker? How much might that be?

Hi,

No, there is no statutory minimum payment amount for either Social Security disability or retirement benefits. Social Security payment amounts are frequently less than the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) amounts you listed, but the amounts you quoted are the maximum possible SSI rates.

Best, Jerry
