Is There Anything Social Security Could Do For Me?

I start drawing social security at age 62 I'm 65 now I owe child support in the rears they start taking it out of my social security check last year 275.00 a month which is a great hardship on me child support people won't talk to me is there anything social security could do for me or a suggestion I would appreciate that very much.

Hi. My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits. All I can tell you is that Social Security wouldn't be withholding child support from your benefit payments unless they were ordered to do so by a court of law (https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-01873).

You can't file an appeal with Social Security to stop the withholding of benefits that results from a court issued garnishment order. If you disagree with the garnishment order, you'll need to take that up with the court that ordered the garnishment. If you don't know which court ordered the garnishment of your benefits, Social Security should be able to give you that information.

Best, Jerry
