Is There Anything More I Can Do?

Hi
I have been on disability since 2006. Well I applied in 2003, approved 2006. They considered my case severe, according to their paperwork. They just reviewed my case and determined that it would be terminated due to medical improvememt. I'm at a lost for words. My injuries have only progressed toward the worse or stayed the same. I filed an appeal but is there anything I can do to help?

Hi,

If you've already filed an appeal, there's likely nothing further that you need to do for now. There are potentially several levels of appeal, so be sure file your further appeal requests timely if your first appeal isn't decided in your favor (https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10041.pdf).

You may want to consider hiring someone to represent you, especially if you reach the hearings level. At the hearing level of appeal, you have a right to appear in person before an administrative law judge. There are generally attorney representatives who are willing to represent you for a fee, or you may qualify for free representation from a legal aid organization if you have limited income and resources.

Best, Jerry
