Why is social security entitled to put funds for nov when person dies in dec. since s/s pays the in dec for nov When will they release funds.
Hi. I'm not sure that I fully understand your question. If a person dies in December, then their benefit payment for November would be payable. But, if the person dies prior to their scheduled payment date, then Social Security must first determine who is entitled to receive the underpayment.
There is a priority order that determines who can be paid an underpayment that is due to a deceased beneficiary. Unless a spouse is collecting benefits on the worker's account at the time of the worker's death, payment of an underpayment is not automatic. Otherwise, someone must complete and submit a form SSA-1724 to Social Security. For a link to the form and for more information on who can be paid an underpayment, refer to the following Social Security website: https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-1724.html.
