Am I Entitled To Any Of My Husband's Benefits?

We have been married since 2003 but have been separated for over 5 years. He is currently collecting SSDI but is also a vet. But not getting VA benefits that I am aware of. He is 50 I am 38. I wanted to know if I am entitled to get any of his benefits? Either now. Or later. And if I am will he be informed that I’m collecting on his benefits and will his be lower bc I am collecting? Please help me. I am struggling financially and I took very good care of him while we were together so I feel I’m entitled

Hi. I don't know anything about VA benefits, but the only way that you could currently be eligible for Social Security benefits based on your husband's record is if you're caring for a child who is drawing benefits on your husband's account. The child would need to be either under age 16 or disabled for you to qualify for child in care spousal benefits.

The earliest that you could qualify for spousal benefits if you don't have an eligible child in your care is age 62 (https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.03/handbook-0305.html).

Best, Jerry
