Is It True That I Can't Get Help With Paying Part B Medicare Premiums?

Hi
I just turned 65 and my monthly social security is $895 per month ,I have a small amount of money less then $50,00. I cannot afford to pay medicare plan B
But according to medicare I cannot get assistance for plan B, because I have more then $7,000, any help on this

Hi,

My expertise is limited to Social Security benefits, and I'm not very familiar with needs based programs designed to help people who can't afford their Medicare premiums. Apparently, the program you're referring to is the 'Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program'. The resource limit for that program in 2020 is $7,860 for an individual or $11,800 for a couple, so if your countable resources exceed the applicable amount you likely wouldn't qualify. For more information, refer to Medicare's website: https://www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/get-help-paying-costs/medic....

Best, Jerry
