If My Husband Dies Can I Get Both VA Survivor Benefits And My Social Security Disability Payments?

If my husband dies and was on VA disability and I am receiving social security disability, can I continue to get both VA survivor's disability payments and my own SS disability payment.

Hi,

I'm not an expert on Veteran's (VA) benefits, so I can't fully answer your question. All I can really tell you is that eligibility for VA benefits has no effect on Social Security disability benefits (SSDI). So, assuming that what you're receiving is SSDI and not Supplemental Security Income (SSI), which is a needs based benefit, your Social Security benefits will not be affected if you become eligible benefits from the VA.

Best, Jerry
