Ask Larry

If I Work And Don't Go Over The Monthly Limit Will I Continue To Receive The Same SSDI Benefit Rate?

If i work while on SSDI and do not go over the monthly limit, will i continue to receive the same amount on my checks?

Hi. Yes. Social Security disability (SSDI) benefit rates are calculated based on your past earnings. Any current earnings that you have couldn't cause your SSDI rate to be reduced, although if you earn too much you could potentially cause your SSDI benefits to be suspended or terminated. For more detailed information, refer to the following Social Security publication: https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10095.pdf.
